A cold front was working its way through western Maine Monday evening kicking off a few showers in the process. Behind the front strong westerly winds were transporting some rather chilly air eastward and this cold air mass is expected to move in here tonight sending temperatures into the 20s. The strong westerly winds will continue over the next two days thanks to an intense area of low pressure that is going to stall over southeastern Canada. Both days will feature a mix of sunshine and clouds with more cloudiness in the mountains and more sunshine toward the coast. Temperatures should top out in the upper 30s to low 40s which is way below normal for the time of year. The wind won't help much gusting at times to near 30 mph. By Thursday the Canadian low should lift northward and this will allow warmer air to return sending temperatures back to normal. Friday is looking partly sunny although there could be a few showers in the afternoon as another cold front moves our way.
