BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Florence Brayson has lived longer than anyone else in her home town of Exeter and Wednesday she was awarded for her ability to outlast.
At 93-years-old, Brayson has seen alot over the years. She was born in 1919, the same year that Word War I ended. The town of Exeter decided to thank her for everything she has done for them by awarding her with a Boston Post Cane. Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island award several of their communities eldest person with the cane. According to Brayson she doesn't feel like she's the oldest, but was happy to take the title.
"I'm proud to have been the receiver of the cane from Exeter this year," said Brayson. "It's something that you don't get often and I'm very proud to get mine."
The Boston Cane will be kept at the Exeter town office along with a picture of Brayson.
