MATTAWAMKEAG, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Work continued Friday to right those 15 cars that derailed yesterday in the town of Mattawamkeag.
Crews are still pumping out crude oil from those cars and re-setting them on the tracks. Maine DEP says barely any oil spilled from the cars.
Thursday a spokesman for the Federal Railroad Adminstration told us the train was traveling at 10 miles per hour, which is the maximum speed that freight trains can travel on those tracks... But, in a later email, that spokesman retracted that statement, and explained that investigators won't know for sure how fast the train was going until they can review the train's black box.
