HARRISON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - One look at the flames and firefighters knew they were going to need the help of neighboring towns to knock it down.

The Harrison Fire Department got the call shortly after 2:30 PM Sunday that a home at 600 Naples Road was burning.

When crews got to the scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

The home, located about a mile south of Camp Newfound, doesn't have a ready source of water nearby. Crews were relying on trucks and the first few that showed up were insufficient to stop the flames.

Harrison's Deputy Fire Chief, Don Woolley, says that by the time crews from Bridgton, Naples, Otisfield, Norway, Waterford and South Paris got to the scene, they had enough trucks to knock the fire down.

Deputy Chief Woolley says the worst of the flames were dealt with by 3:30 PM but extensive damage and hot spots meant crews didn't clear the scene until 6:00 PM.

The home, a two story cape made out of wooden logs, is a complete loss.

Two people who live at the home were present at the time of the fire. Woolley says one was taken away for unspecified injuries.

Deputy Chief Woolley says investigators from the State Fire Marshal's Office will determine the cause.
