GREENBUSH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Maine Drug Agents with the help of the U.S. Postal Service say they intercepted a shipment of bath salts the size of a newborn baby.

Last Wednesday, MDEA Agents, U.S. Postal Inspectors and investigators from the department of Homeland Security executed a search warrant on a package at the sorting facility in Hampden, Maine. Inside they say they found 6.5 pounds of white powder suspected to be synthetic cathinone, more commonly called "bath salts."

The shipment came from the People's Republic of China and was heading to Leonard Wells in the town of Greenbush.

In January, Wells was arrested on charges of Aggravated Traffickin in Synthetic Hallucinogenic Drugs. He posted a $50,000 cash bail in that case. That is a separate matter from the seizure at the sorting facility.

Three other people were arrested in the January investigation. Arthur Coy, Elizabeth Fuentes and Stpehen Warren. They're still being held at the Penobscot County Jail.

Drug agents say 6.5 pounds of bath salts is worth $450,000.
