LEWISTON, Maine (AP) - A Lewiston man is being held on $60,000 bail on charges he allegedly stabbed and punched a woman after finding out she was a drug informant.
Thirty-six-year-old Mark Brown had bail set Friday by a judge who set the amount $10,000 higher than prosecutors had sought.
The Sun Journal of Lewiston reported that Brown is accused of stabbing a 22-year-old Lewiston woman in the buttocks and punching her in the face after learning she was an informant for the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. The woman told police she had been in a sexual relationship with Brown for two months.
Brown was charged with aggravated assault, criminal threatening, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and tampering with a witness or informant.
