WALES, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - A grand jury has indicted a Wales hunter on manslaughter from a November shooting.
On Wednesday the Androscoggin County Grand Jury indicted 41-year-old Christopher Austin with manslaughter, and for shooting too close to a dwelling, after 41-year-old Gerard Parent was shot by Austin while hunting.
Wardens say that the men were both independently tracking the same dear off East Road in Wales when they both fired at the same time. Austin fired two shots while Parent one fired one shot. Wardens believe that Austin's second shot killed Parent.
Christopher Austin is scheduled to appear before Androscoggin Superior Court Friday morning at 8:30.
