AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - A little over three decades ago, Tim Marks was an 18-year-old doorkeeper to the Maine Senate. Now's he's back - as the state representative from Pittston.

Marks, a Democrat, is among the dozens of newly elected, first-time elected legislators who are in the State House for orientation on Thursday.

After stints as doorkeeper and document clerk, Marks had a career as a state trooper. He says coming full circle by returning to the State House is "very cool ... awesome."

Marks and other freshmen say they're ready for a lot of hard work in the session ahead. Republican Rep.-elect Corey Wilson of Augusta says majority or minority, it's time "to get together and get things done."

The new lawmakers are learning about filing bills, the committee structure and legislative protocols.
