WINSLOW, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Police say excessive speed was likely a factor in a crash that killed two teens who attended Winslow High School.

The Winslow Police Department says that Scott Loisel, of Winslow, was driving too fast as he crested a hill on South Reynolds Road. His car went into the shoulder on the right side of the road, and then jerked the other way, crossing into the oncoming lane and hitting another car head on.

Loisel and his passenger, Alexandria Ferland, from Vassalboro, were killed. They were sixteen years old.

The other car was a taxi carrying two passengers. Driver Jamie Howard, from Waterville, and her two passengers, David Green and Brian Roy - From Belgrade and Winslow, respectively, have been taken to various area hospitals.

They're in stable condition.

A note on Winslow High School's website says that they are making counselors available for the grieving.
