Four arrested in York County burglary ring

ALFRED, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- State Police say four people are in custody in connection with a burglary ring in York County.

Investigators say the thieves are responsible for a dozen burglaries in the last month. The break-ins happened in Shapleigh, Newfield, Alfred and Waterboro.

State Police say most of the items seized were at a home located at 590 Newfield Road in Shapleigh.

Officials say many of the stolen items have been recovered including televisions, video game systems, other electronics and prescription drugs. Also recovered are several thousand dollars worth of new clothing, sunglasses and sneakers likely taken from outlet stores in Kittery.

Officials say the stolen items were going to be sold to fund drug use by the suspects.

Under arrest are Justin Burleigh, 25, of York. He is charged with burglary. 25-year-old Paul Kastberg, who is from Alfred is charged with not paying previous fines. Michael Zaetz, 23, of Rollinsford, New Hampshire is charged on a probation violation and Heather Laroche, 23, also of New Hampshire, is held on drug charges from the Granite State.

State Police say additional charges and arrests are likely.
