T10 R11 WELS, Maine (AP/NEWS CENTER) --The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife says a game warden was killed in the crash of a small plane on Clear Lake.
The department says the site where pilot Daryl Gordon died was located Friday morning.
The wreckage of Gordon's plane was located after an overnight search by state and federal authorities. Officials say the crash happened Thursday night.
Officials are planning to release more information about the case Friday afternoon.
Gordon was a 25-year veteran of the Maine Warden Service. The department says his aerial search-and-rescue efforts helped find countless people.
Gordon was the 15th game warden to die in line of duty in the Maine Warden Service's 130-year history.
