PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The train delivering rail for the expansion of the Amtrak Downeaster has cleared Woodfords Corner in Portland and is expected at Congress Street around 11 a.m. Friday.
The train could cause traffic delays because it stops for about 30 minutes at each street crossing so that the crew can cut the rail line. That way the line doesn't block the road. Another crew will install the rail line at another date.
The train was supposed to be through Portland by now, but it faced serious delays the past two days. Work started on time Friday morning.
