AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Governor Baldacci's office says a soldier who was raised in Maine has died while serving in Afghanistan.
Staff Sergeant Eric Shaw, 31, was killed by enemy gunfire in Afghanistan Sunday.
Shaw served with the 327th Infantry, First Brigade Comabt Team from Fort Campbell, KY. This was Shaw's third tour of duty.
Staff Sergeant Shaw was born in Massachusetts, but he was raised in Exeter, Maine, by his father and grandmother.
Shaw is survived by his wife and three children, aged five, two and six weeks. They live in Tennessee.
The Governor will order flags flown at half-staff on the day of Shaw's funeral.
