BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Bangor and Brewer police had to rescue a man off of the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge late last night. Brewer police approached the man on Wilson street just before midnight. He took off onto the bridge, but about halfway across, climbed over the railing and down the side. The man stripped down to his underwear, and police say he was making rambling statements about drugs being all over the bridge. After about two and a half hours they were able to convince him to climb up a ladder to safety. The man did not have any drugs on him, but police say he admitted to taking bath salts for the first time earlier that night. He has not been charged with any crime at this time.
