DENMARK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Department of Transportation is getting a lot of angry calls from drivers who travelled on Route 117 this week.
For some reason, the double yellow lines, which were painted Monday, never fully dried, and now the DOT has heard from at least 30 drivers, saying yellow paint is all over their cars. The DOT's Traffic Operations Superintendent Wayne Arsenault says it's unclear what went wrong, and that the state will work with people who are affected. Drivers say they want the state to pay for the damage.
The DOT's website says it does not take responsibility for any damage done to cars because of wet paint on the roads. However, Arsenault told NEWS CENTER that those affected in this case should give the department a call, and the DOT will evaluate the situation. That number is (207) 624-3000.
