Fit at Five: Born to Run

Do you consider yourself someone who likes to run? It's something that can be discouraging at first, but can quickly become an empowering exercise once you find your groove. With this Fit at Five we show you a program that helps people discover the true runner inside them. Teaching them that they were born to run.

The Born to Run program started being offered through Portland Adult Ed three years ago. Trainer Michael Schwartz wanted people to realize that they can train their body to run.

"When somebody says I can't run a mile, or I can't run that fast I say you haven't completed the sentence. You forgot to put the word "yet" at the end."

The program strips things down to the basics. Drills help participants learn the proper mechanics of running. Small adjustments are made through the session in hopes that the correct form of running will eventually become automatic.
