Fit at Five: Body Building

Goal setting is a great way to find motivation to get in shape. In this Fit at Five we take a look at a sport that takes extreme discipline with health and nutrition and involves months of preparation. Many people are turning to body building as a competitive outlet. The misconceptions of being a muscle head is a thing of the past as many competitors these days are everyday people.

Scott Fleurant loved to play sports as a young kid, but it was when his father introduced him to weight lifting that his life changed. "Over time when I started seeing changes in my body it went from. Oh my god I can't believe I have to workout today. To I can't wait to workout." By age 17 he was competing in body building competitions, and learning the discipline that comes along with the training process.

Now Scott wants to get others excited about health and fitness with the first Maine State Health and Fitness Expo. On April 14th people are invited to come see, learn, and even take part in a body building competition. The expo will also have chiropractors, massage therapists, and performance coaches for attendees to talk with.
