CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (KRIS) -- The fact that a wife is a perfect match to donate a kidney to her ailing husband is being compared to winning the lottery.
In January, Juan Lopez found out both of his kidney's had failed. After two years of battling with the issue, the medications lead to kidney failure. He ended up back in the hospital earlier this year.
"They put me in the hospital, they kicked in again, then started taking medications." Juan Lopez explains.
He considered other medications and dialysis but soon fell into a deep depression. That is when his wife Barbara Lopez said enough was enough and went with him to get tested for a transplant.
"Let's look at our options. Let's look at dialysis. Let's look at dialysis at home. Let's look at transplants," she tell us. "Luckily I was a match, I was a match."
