BURUNDI BATIMBO BEATS TO PERFORM AT CELESOIREE
CeleSoirée 2013: A Celebration of Immigration Through the Performing Arts will feature the Burundi Batimbo Beats Drummers and the Pihcintu Multinational Children's Chorus. All proceeds of the event support ILAP's statewide programs offering legal services to low-income Maine immigrants and their families.
The Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP) is also pleased to announce that Richard Blanco, the inaugural poet for President Obama's January 2013 inauguration, will be a featured performer at its CeleSoirée fundraiser on April 12.
CeleSoirée 2013 will take place at Hannaford Hall, USM Abromson Center, 88 Bedford St. in Portland on Friday, April 12.
An opening reception at 6 p.m. will feature an exhibit immigrant art, followed by the performances at 7 p.m. Richard Blanco will be featured both at a special advance reception for ILAP's "India Street Society" as well as for 30 minutes during the main event. A live auction will be held at 8:15 with a dessert reception at 8:30 p.m.
