Richard Blanco delivered the Inaugural poem at President Barack Obama's Inauguration on January 21st. Blanco lives in Bethel. He is the first Hispanic and the first openly gay person to serve in the role of inaugural poet. His poem, "One Today," painted vivid scenes about everyday Americans going about their lives... And it included reflections on his experience growing up as Cuban exile in New York City and Miami.

Richard Blanco will be doing a poetry reading at Merrill Auditorium in Portland on Tuesday, February 26th. The event is free, but all tickets have already been reserved.
