Township 25, Maine--(NEWS CENTER) Maine is the largest producing blueberry state and the harvest in in full swing. Mechanical harvesters are changing the picture in Washington County, where most of Maine's blueberries are grown.

Hennessey Brothers is one producer which has invested heavily in mechanization.  "The mechanical harvesters go twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week," said owner Ed Hennessey.  "All you got to do is put fuel in and just keep going."

Hennessey estimates that two-thirds of Maine's crop is now harvested by machine.  Maine is famous for its low-bush wild blueberries which are known as being one of the healthiest foods on the market.
